Abstract

The presented work examines aspects of the effectiveness of massage and manual therapy as treatment methods for improving health and reducing pain in patients with various medical conditions, as well as a rehabilitation method after severe pathological conditions. The aim of the work was to find out the effectiveness of massage and manual therapy in physical rehabilitation. Research material and methods. To achieve the goal, bibliographic and bibliosemantic research methods were used. Modern scientific sources of the PubMed scientometric database for the last 5 years were used to perform the literary analysis. Results of the study. The results of the scientific review confirm that both massage and manual therapy have significant potential to improve the physical and mental health of patients. Both methods have been shown to reduce pain, improve mobility and reduce stress levels. In addition, they were found to be safe and well tolerated by most patients. However, some sources provide information about the ineffectiveness of these methods or questionable, unproven effectiveness. The article gives special attention to the issues of massage and manual therapy as effective methods of rehabilitation in various clinical scenarios, such as injuries, degenerative or inflammatory diseases and pain conditions. She provides data on the use of these methods to alleviate the condition of cancer patients and people with digestive system disorders. Massage and manual therapy are often used in the rehabilitation of patients with musculoskeletal injuries and conditions. They can help reduce pain, improve joint mobility, relieve muscle tension and improve functional status. Conclusions. Therefore, massage and manual therapy can be effective adjuncts to standard treatments for a number of medical conditions, helping to improve patients’ quality of life. Additional research in this direction may help reveal the potential of these methods and develop optimal treatment protocols for different patient groups. However, these methods still need further study.
