Abstract

Relevance of the research topic. Unsafe medication practices and medication errors are among the leading causes of patient harm in healthcare facilities around the world. The global amount of losses from medication errors is estimated at 42 billion dollars. USA per year. The effectiveness and safety of medicinal products must be balanced. A medicinal product is beneficial when it provides the expected result (this demonstrates its effectiveness), and the number of side effects is acceptable (this demonstrates its safety). The purpose of the work. Research of the current state of ensuring the safety of medicinal products (means) and their effectiveness in the world and in Ukraine. Research materials and methods.Verified Market Reports analytics, Research Report “Global Drug Safety Solutions and Pharmacovigilance Market”, World Health Assembly Resolution WHA72.6 “Global Action for Patient Safety”, World Health Organization data and reports were used as materials. I (WHO). Results and their discussion. Improving patient safety requires comprehensive solutions within the health care system – a wide range of measures to improve the organization of activities, including the involvement of patients and caregivers to ensure safe delivery of medical care. A number of measures have already been developed to reduce the frequency and consequences of medication errors, but their application is variable in nature. There is a need for large-scale involvement of stakeholders who are in favor of taking consistent measures. Therefore, for its third global task on patient safety, WHO has chosen the theme “Medicines without harm”. In Ukraine, a new legal framework for regulating the circulation of medicinal products, internal quality control and safety of medical organizations is being developed.
