INDICATORS OF PRIMARY DETECTION, STAGING AND DISPENSARY REGISTRATION OF CERVICAL CANCER IN UKRAINE (2014-2023): EPIDEMIOLOGICAL AND REGIONAL ANALYSIS

Cervical cancer (CC) remains one of the leading oncological problems of the female reproductive system in Ukraine and worldwide. According to the World Health Organization, this pathology is one of the leading causes of morbidity and mortality among women of reproductive age. At the same time, cervical cancer is a unique example of an oncological pathology whose prevention, in particular through the implementation of screening programs, can effectively reduce the incidence rate and improve the prognosis for patients. However, in Ukraine, despite the existence of government programs, early detection rates of cervical cancer remain insufficient, which significantly affects the high percentage of late-stage disease and, consequently, mortality.Analysis of the data from the Center for Medical Statistics of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine over the past decade shows a slight decrease in the total number of newly diagnosed cases of cervical cancer, but the percentage of cases with late stages (III–IV) is consistently high. This indicates the presence of significant problems in the system of primary diagnosis and dispensary surveillance, as well as insufficient coverage of the population with preventive examinations. In addition, regional patterns of morbidity and screening efficiency indicate uneven access to health care in different parts of the country.In the current context of health care system reform, as well as in the context of socio-political instability, the assessment of cervical cancer epidemiological indicators and the state of dispensary records is of particular relevance.The purpose of this study is to comprehensively analyze the dynamics of primary detection, staging and follow-up of patients with cervical cancer in Ukraine for the period 2014–2023, taking into account regional differences. The results of the study should contribute to the optimization of screening and surveillance strategies, which are necessary to improve the effectiveness of the fight against this dangerous disease.
