MARKETING ANALYSIS OF THE PHARMACEUTICAL MARKET OF MEDICINES USED IN BILIARY PATHOLOGY

Biliary pathology plays a significant role in the structure of gastrointestinal diseases and is of considerable medical and social importance. Several subgroups of drugs are used for therapy. The availability of safe, effective, and highquality medicines represents an important determinant of public health preservation and improvement, contributing to longer life expectancy. The aim of this study was to conduct a marketing analysis of medicinal products for the treatment of biliary pathology (ATC group A05A) on the pharmaceutical market of Ukraine as of August 2025. The State Register of Medicinal Products of Ukraine was used to study the registration status. The study investigated the registration status, actual availability, and accessibility of medicinal products, as well as the features of combined products. The actual availability of medicines was assessed according to the WHO/HAI (2008) methodology, considering the number of pharmacies per 100,000 population in regional centers. For combined medicinal products, cluster analysis and visualization of component relationships were performed using the VosViewer software. As of the study date, 59 trade names of medicines for the treatment of biliary pathology were registered in Ukraine. The analysis revealed that only 30.51% of the registered medicinal products were fully present on the market, while 50.85% were available only partially, and 18.64% were completely unavailable. Over-the-counter (OTC) herbal medicines of Ukrainian manufacture dominate in this segment in tablet and capsule forms. Most single-component and combined medicinal products are developed based on plant raw materials. The highest accessibility within the pharmacy network was observed for products containing ursodeoxycholic acid and artichoke extract. Combined phytopharmaceuticals demonstrated medium to high accessibility in the pharmaceutical market. Cluster analysis of combined medicinal products identified five clusters, four of which were found to be interrelated. The results indicate a limited range of medicines used in biliary pathology and emphasize the need for assortment expansion through the development of new phytopharmaceuticals.
