THE STRATEGIC ROLE OF ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT IN ENSURING THE SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT OF PHARMACEUTICAL ORGANIZATIONS

The current stage of industrial development in the world as a whole, and in Ukraine in particular, is characterized by a significant negative impact on the environment. The aim of the work is to provide scientific justification for the theoretical basis of environmental management in the management structure of modern pharmaceutical organizations, to assess the current level of environmental safety in Ukraine, and to analyze foreign practices in the implementation of eco-oriented management systems. The methodological tools of the study include methods of systematic analysis, a bibliosemantic approach to interpreting definitions of environmental management, and a method of generalization for systematizing the experience of EU countries (in particular Poland). A graphical method was used to visually represent trends in waste management and the architectonics of ecological and economic relations. The empirical basis was formed by scientific works of domestic and foreign experts, legislative acts and statistical reports on waste dynamics in Ukraine, and international standards. The dynamics of waste accumulation and disposal in Ukraine for 2016–2024 were analyzed (crisis phenomena, low recycling rate – less than 5 %). The role of environmental management as an integrated ecological and economic system of a pharmaceutical organization has been defined, the author's definition of the concept of “environmental management of a pharmaceutical organization” has been formulated, and the key subsystems of a pharmaceutical organization (social, economic, technical, environmental) have been identified. The necessity of implementing international standards ISO 14000 is justified. It has been proven that environmental management is the foundation for ensuring the sustainable development of pharmaceutical organizations. Its application helps minimize environmental risks, optimize resource consumption, and strengthen the company's reputation capital in the global market.
